Peter Greene — the American character actor best known for his villainous turns in Pulp Fiction and The Mask — was found dead Friday, December 12, 2025, in his Manhattan apartment, his manager confirmed. He was 60 years old.
Greene, born in Montclair, New Jersey, in 1965, rose to prominence in the early 1990s, gaining widespread recognition for his intense and memorable performances. His career included standout roles such as Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and mob boss Dorian Tyrell in The Mask — both released in 1994.
Law enforcement and authorities reported that he was discovered unresponsive in his Lower East Side apartment. Police say there is no indication of foul play, and the cause of death has not yet been released pending medical examiner investigation.
According to his longtime manager, Gregg Edwards, Greene had recently spoken with friends and was preparing for an upcoming surgery. A wellness check was reportedly initiated after music played continuously in his apartment for more than 24 hours.
Over a career spanning more than three decades, Greene appeared in dozens of films and television shows, including The Usual Suspects, Training Day, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, and various series roles.
Edwards described Greene as a “terrific guy” with a big heart and a passion for his craft, praising his work both on and off the screen. At the time of his passing, Greene was involved in new projects, including an independent film titled Mascotsand a documentary he was co-producing and narrating.
He is survived by family and the legacy of a career defined by unforgettable, often chilling performances that helped define the archetype of the compelling on-screen villain.
